Caro padre Katam Balthazar, dopo molto tempo le scrivo per aggiornarla un po' su di noi.

Dear father Katam Balthazar, after a long time I'm writing to update you about us.

Abbiamo trascorso un inverno abbastanza nevoso e piovoso, ma finalmente ora vediamo i primi segni della primavera. Qui ci sono state le elezioni, con un esito piuttosto incerto. L'Italia è un paese difficilmente governabile, in cui l'instabilità dovuta al confronto permanente tra le forze politiche, sempre in aspro conflitto, non permette di trovare soluzioni concrete ai gravi problemi che affliggono la nostra economia. Al momento non ci sono prospettive chiare sulla composizione del prossimo governo: siamo tutti in attesa per le decisioni del capo dello Stato, nella speranza che non dobbiamo votare di nuovo. La gente è stanca, frustrata e scoraggiata per la mancanza di lavoro, i sacrifici, le alte tasse, gli scandali e l'inadeguatezza dimostrata in questi anni dalla classe politica.

So far we have spent quite a winter snowy and rainy, but now finally we see the first signs of spring. Here were the elections and the outcome was somewhat uncertain. Italy is a country hardly governable, in which the instability due to the permanent confrontation amongst the political forces, always in brusque conflict, doesn't allow to find practical solutions to the serious problems facing our economy. At the moment there are no clear prospective on the composition of the next government: we are all waiting for the decisions of the head of the State, in the hope that we should not vote again. People are tired, frustrated and disheartened by the lack of work, the sacrifices, the high taxes, the scandals and the inadequacy demonstrated in recent years by the political class.

Lo scorso mese di settembre è arrivato nella nostra diocesi di Reggio-Emilia e Guastalla il nuovo vescovo Massimo Camisasca, al posto del suo predecessore Adriano Caprioli, ritiratosi per età. Ed ora stiamo anche aspettando, come il resto del mondo, l'elezione del nuovo papa.

The last month of September arrived in our diocese of Reggio-Emilia and Guastalla the new bishop Massimo Camisasca, replacing its predecessor Hadrian Caprioli, who retired for age reasons. And now we are also waiting, like the rest of the world, for the next pope's election.

La vita a Mandriolo scorre nel solito ("non eccitante") modo, da me già descritto nella mia precedente lettera dell'8 ottobre scorso. Non ho altro da aggiungere, se non confermare che le attività stanno gradualmente spostandosi nelle parrocchie sorelle di Mandrio e S. Martino. [...] Comunque, nonostante la crisi economica e solo grazie a Dio, siamo riusciti ad ottenere il rinnovo di 60 adozioni. Sono tutte elencate nel file allegato. Per i bambini abbiamo raccolto 8.748 euro. Come già anticipato in mia email del 25 febbraio, ne abbiamo spediti 8.430 il 6 febbraio 2013. Ci informi non appena avrà ricevuto detta somma (i restanti 318 euro saranno inviati in un secondo momento).

The life in Mandriolo goes on in the usual way, the same ("not exciting") that I described in my previous letter of 8 October. I have nothing to add, except to confirm that the activities are gradually moving in the parishes sisters Mandrio and San Martino. [...] However, despite the economic problems and only thanks to the Lord's help, we were able to obtain the renewal of 60 adoptions. They are all listed in the attached file. We have collected for boarding children € 8748. As already mentioned in my email of february 2, 2013, we sent 8430 euro on february 6, 2013. Please, inform us as soon as you receive that sum (the remaining € 318 will be sent at a later time).

Purtroppo, fra coloro che avevano sottoscritto adozioni, Irene Lugli è recentemente morta. E' andata in cielo ma ci ha lasciato una luminosa testimonianza di fede incrollabile ed esemplare perseveranza. Voglia dedicare una o più sante messe a questa nostra cara parrocchiana. Voglia anche dedicare una messa a Gianluca Catellani, un altro caro parrocchiano andato in cielo nel 2006.

Unfortunately, among those who had signed adoptions, Irene Lugli recently died. She rose to heaven but she has left us a shining testimony of unwavering faith and exemplar perseverance. Please dedicate one or more holy mass to this our dear parishioner. Also want to give a mass to Gianluca Catellani, another dear parishioner who prematurely rose to heaven in 2006.

Caro padre Balthazar, ci parli un po' delle vostre cose, della vita dei vostri bambini, così che chi li ha adottati possa conoscere meglio le loro condizioni di vita, le loro abitudini, i loro sogni, ecc.

Dear Father Balthazar, tell us a little about your things, how goes the life of your children, so that who adopted them can learn more about their living conditions, their habits, their dreams, etc.
